Getting blonder hair!

I have like a dirty blonde hair colour but I want to be proper blonde. I don't really like highlights on myself so is there a way to go from dirty blonde to blonde in one go? I heard people saying that you can't do that because you need to build up the highlights.

My friend had the same problem, had dark dark dark brown (I don't know why they don't just call it black) hair, wanted to go blonde, was told she'd have to go through series of highlights, the first highlight session cost a bomb so she decided she couldn't keep doing it that way. She went to a teaching hairdressers and they did it no problem. She said that because it was a school they make sure they don't push you around, they just do exactly what you want. She's always gone there since, says it's brilliant. I'd advise finding a teaching hairdressers near you.

Funny that you should mention that because I hate when people that have dark brown hair refer to it as black.....true black hair can look very odd against peoples skin tones even if they're used to having really really dark brown hair.

I don't think there is such a thing as "truly black hair". Under a microscope, the darkest of hair will always be brown.

I had highlights a few months back for the first time. I'm a mid brown tone but the highlights made me look completely blonde! Now I don't know which way to go with my colour ???

There is still a big difference in black and dark dark brown hair...I've been dying my hair black for years, It's faded a bit since I put in my last dye and it's extremely dark brown but it's not black, it makes a huge difference to my skin tone and I much prefer the black.

Oh I understand the difference between very dark brown and black, I just mean that people seem to be very touchy about it. I'm not very good with colour, so without actually looking up close at someone with very dark hair I find it difficult to tell whether it's dark brown or black. So if I talk about someone and describe their hair using the word black when it's actually very dark brown, people act like they don't know who I'm talking about. It's especially hard when I'm trying to remember their appearance three days after seeing them at a party. I don't really remember these things about people.

Obviously you know the difference, i'm just saying the 2 colours can look completely different on the same person even though it might only be a shade or 2 darker, I've heard people describe people with clearly light enough brown hair as black....the mind boggles

1st things first i dont want anyone giving nasty comments on what im advising. i have done this to my hair for 4 years and no disasters yet .

1st it can be done ,i change my hair colour all the time and have done this from china black hair to almost white in a day ( or i prefer to wait a week or 2 in betweenserious dyes)

if you want to go really blonde, and want to save money i get 40 vol ( or 30 vol if you wanna play it safe :) or have fine hair) peroxide mixed with the blue powder and leave until it is paleish yellow.(all from terrisales)
then for toning i either use Directions , Clairol, Fudge or mix a luo colour toner ( PO1 i think?) with 20 vol peroxide.

this is only one way to do it , there are of course many options for you :)

    enjoy!

Is it true that you can just dilute the bleach with water?

well tbh that is the differencce between the different vols :)
i personally have never done it so i dont know what the outcome is like.
but my friend dilutes the bleach so she can use 30 vol on her hair and then dilute to 20 vol for the toner :)

Do you need to be a hairdresser/have a salon services card to buy from Terrisales?

They will let you sign up for a card in store. You don't need any salon card to do this.

I do my hair in a somewhat similar way to Blerdiii.

I use 9% peroxide and blue powder bleach. Leave that on for about 40-45mins. Then use Luo Color P02 (but might change this to P0 the next time) mixed with the Luo Releaser (7.5%) for 20mins.

I've been using Revlon Pro You White Hair Shampoo for the last few months and find good.

It's hard to find though so I bought the Schwarzkopf Bonacure Colour Save Silver Shampoo. Used it this morning and it seems good. It has the same dark blue colour as the Revlon.
