I work in a shop and I'm so sick of customers griping at me that they have to pay for a plastic bag. What the ****. How long ago was the levy introduced? Old people especially make it an ordeal. Just take the bag or don't. I'm not happy in my job but haven't found another yet. Am I alone? This stuff is tip of the iceberg. I won't rant though, just wondering if I'm being especially "unique" in trudging on with a job that depresses me daily for poor money.
What's everyone else up to in general? Any plans? I'm thinking back to college in a year or so, until then I'm going to try to struggle through this or another crap job I guess. Or fold and go on the dole and have the time of my life. Eh? :pac:

I think the actual question I pose at the end of the topic belongs here better. I'm beginning to think people only read thread titles.....

I know this is about plastic bags and shop assistants has to give you the option would you like a bag.

But why cant they ask the same about paper bags instead of scanning the yoke in and reaching to put it into the paper bag. Every single time i have to say, its grand, iv got a bag here. Why? Paper bags are stupid, they get wet in the rain and just creating more trash for you to throw out at home.

Just want to double-check that you're aware of the Cries of Retail thread in Ranting and Raving? If not, you'll find compadres there. ;)

ETA: Wasn't trying to backseat mod, myself here. That thread has saved my sanity on a few occasions so thought I'd share the big ranty love!

I can only guess that you make somewhere between €9-12 euro OP and the thing that p!sses you off most is someone not wanting to buy a bag..............!!!

Because it's standard. Your bag may be full, you may not want to mix stuff, you might need another bag to balance out the weight. The majority of people will want one. I think I tried this a few times, copped a few people with large empty looking shopping bags. They took the head off me. One actually gave me a huge lecture about how of course she needed a bag, because it was for her friend who would not be able to get a refund if it didn't have the company's bag? Freak. In short, it's better to just reach for one. Plenty or arseholes who watch you pack a bag, and then don't want one, often in narky arsehole tones. Even worse when some companies make you scan paper bags (free though), so you lose track. Or the people who shout 'And I want a bag!' when they're barely at the counter. Often wanted to smother people with them but I suppose they're all crap and breathable!

OP, there's a thread in the Feedback forum where you can request access to the ranting and raving forum. There's a Cries of Retail thread there, over 100 pages long. It's brilliant, and should be a sticky here as well, people should know!:p

Slice a hole in the bottom of every second plastic bag so theyll have to pay twice.

I've had this a few times and still have not figured out how the mental process gets people to that thinking. *A bag is not proof of purchase, fuckwit. Are you that stupid?* Cos really, a bag is so much harder to get than a valid receipt.

    As you say, freaks!

Not at all. When the cheap gits overpack a flimsy little 22cent bag with spuds, sharp-edged heavy boxes, tins, jagged packaged items and it inevitably bursts, whose fault is it? The cashier's apparently. Because we control the laws of gravity, just for the lulz.

When I'm not in college, or doing things that being in college lets you do, I work as an accounting tech for a garage around my area, and it's also the duty of myself and two of my office colleagues to answer the phones, then depending on who they need to talk we send them on, be it the boss, any of the other workers or even just ourselves. But some customers just ask the most stupid questions that utterly devoid intelligence.

"How long will he be on the call?"
Let me just get in my time machine and find out. **** sake, how long is a piece of string?

"Well, I need to find out if this part can fitted to whatever"
I don't know, I work in the office
"But all I need to know if this manufacturer's product goes into this"
I'd love to answer your question, but I don't deal with any of that stuff
"What use is that to have you working in a garage if you don't know anything about this?"
I'M A ****ING ACCOUNTANT, DIP****! I work with numbers!

Most of the shops where I live give you a brown paper bag if you need one. If they don't have them, they give you a plastic bag. They never charge. I think they did for about a month after the levy came in, then realised that nobody was enforcing it, so said "fuck that shit" & just handed them out like they were plastic bags.

The only place that charges is Tesco.

But they are multi-national money grabbing cunts, so they would.
