machine polish marks on paint

My mate got his car back from paintshop after minor repair works and the job is generally good but with a certain light, you can plainly see the track of machine polishing in four streaks down the door and a few random streaks on the wing. It particularily obvious in bright sunlight as I saw it straight off and he hadnt really seen it at all but did see it on the day I was looking at it.
Its a navy mondeo and not particularily valuable but we would like to have a go at fixing this. The paint is about 2 weeks old now.

What would be the process to fix this. I assume these are just micro marks on the surface of the clear coat.

Usually referred to as buffer trails or holograms.

They're caused by using a strong polish with stiff pad to cut the new finish, but then not refining it with a softer pad & polish.

Fix: Polish with a soft pad & finishing polish at low(ish) speeds.

It should look better in all lights once it's properly refined too.

I surely could. Have you got a machine polisher? A dual action or rotary would do the job. If so;

Bring it back to the body shop. He paid for a proper job. Time to get the job he paid for.

He would bring it back. Still he is interested in this type of stuff and Id like a car to practice on so we will give it a bash:D

Thanks, will buy that stuff. He has an unused dual action polisher.

Edit - Its a 240mm machine. Can pads be got for this?
