the last few years i was paye but i had to go on a c35 since january ,could someone go through the finer details with me

    # it was 20% first but then they reverted back to 35 % for some reason and did so without even notifying me :mad:

    # i know you can claim some back but what % or is it dependant on peoples individual circumstances

    # how often can i claim tax back

    # how will it effect me if i ever have to sign on for social welfare ,things are ok now but we could be caught for a few months this year where i would have no option but to sign on , i know people on c2 s that got the dole before but its a lot of hassle

i was basically in a situation if i didnt go on a c35 id be out of work so i had to take the offer surely they will take that into account or am i way off

    thanks in advance

just to add i have an accountant but only seen him once to get set up for tax and vat in january

    Hi,

Revenue are currently in the process of amending the RCT rules. There will be 3 rates of RCT:
    • 0% for people who have a full compliant tax record for the preious 3 years.
    • 20%for people who have good compliance record
    • 35% for everyone else.
The tax withheld will be either offset against outstanding tax liabilities or refunded when you file your Income tax return annually. Therefore it would be advisable to prepare your Income Tax Return early each year.

Being a sub-contractor in itself will not affect your social welfare entitlements. These will be dependent on your Income in the year, your PRSI contributions, if you are married and your spouse has a source of income... Some individuals sign for the days they are not working.
