Fluence fuel economy query

    Hi There,
Just wondering from new Fluence owners what fuel economy your getting for your car. I'm thinking of taking the plunge and getting one. I'm looking to get the 6 speed 110bhp model. I couldn't care less about looks or styling or extras. As long as it's cheap to run,tax and I can fit in it I'm happy.

    Cheers
    BrianO

I have the 90bhp Dynamique model. Got it last month. At the moment I get 1000kms to a tank of diesel. Majority of my driving is local driving.

There is a 60L tank in the car and it is €104 a year road tax

Do you put in 60 litres per 1000km? If that is the case then 6L/100k is pretty poor for an all singing all dancing 104 euro tax car! But i don't suppose you are in the habit of draining your tank completely are you?:pac:

The car can do 4.?/100KM when driving in high gears at a certain speeds. Most of my driving so far is at slow speeds in lower gears.

When I start using the car for long distance travelling to work I expect to get more KMs to the tank

Can you tell us what type of deal you got on the fluence, my mother is thinking of buying one.

Initially I thought they were awful looking, but then a friend bought one nd I got to see it close up, it is a much better looking car in the flesh. He paid 16,000 dead for his with scrappage, 1.5dci royale, metallic.

Haven't got a Fluence but we do have a Megane hatch 86 bhp (no particulate filter and 5 speed gearbox) It is a very economical car at low-medium speeds but not so good on the motorway.

The last time I drove it for a week I averaged 4.7l per 100 km. Mostly N road driving with some motorway and urban. That's 60 mpg.

A relative drives it mostly in urban areas (with moving traffic) and on regional roads. I just checked the computer there and it says 4.2 l/100 km over the last 1200 kms. That's 67 mpg.

Previously I have seen him get an average of 3.9 l/100 km over a few thousand kms which is 72 mpg

I think they are a very nice car. Nice to look at, comfortable and nice to drive.

I went up a model to the Dynamique and it worked out at €17000 with scrapage. I didnt receive the government scrapage as I traded in a 9 year old car.

+1, except I still do. A friend who emigrated was home at Christmas and had one as a rental, he thought it was one of the worst cars imaginable, cheap plasticly thing and slow as feck. He had a Peugeot 307 HDi a few years back so isn't at all anti French cars, he just thought the Fluence was muck. He referred to it as Effluent :pac: Same lad has a 50cc moped over in Oz at the mo so I was surprised enough at his scathing review.

I prefer to call it the Flounce

    I like Flatulence myself

Each to their own guys but I couldn't care less about the poke of an engine or how it looks. What attracts me is the 5 year warranty and low price. I'll be buying it and running it into the ground for ten years. Electric cars should be up to spec then.

Anyone have experience with the economy of them (fluence) on a motorway? Alot of my driving would be motorway.

The gov scrap is 1250 on that car, so I could have a diesel dynamique (is it 6 speed) for 15,800 out the door, is that with metallic.

Do you know if there is a fluence estate?

I have the 5 speed 90bhp. The 6 speed is more expensive again and is 110bhp.

There is no Fluence estate but there is this Megane Elegant

The old man has one. It's a dynamique model. He averages just under about 4.7L/100km.

I don't agree that its a sluggish engine. It pulls quite well in my experience (I've driven it a good bit). Steering is a little heavy though when at motorway speed.

Another point of note is that the service interval is every 2 years according to Liffey Valley Renault. Which is just another string to the low cost motoring bow Renault currently offer

No offence to anyone, each to their own but I die a little inside when I read threads like this. People buying a brand new, heavily discunted car from a brand with historically poor residuals and questionable reliability. And then getting all anal discussing minor differences in MPG...

I am saddened whenever I see a new French super mini, although I am now twice as happy as ever to see a 330i bustling past it on the rare occasion it happens

And I did see a 2011 fluence broken down on the link yesterday, just to add that in there.

^^^ totally agree, I don't want to offend people here but I have seen this recently.

I don't understand why somebody would sink their hard earned money on a new car that they don't particularly fall in love with and base their decision to purchase it on road tax and economy alone. Don't get me wrong these are important but should be combined overall with Your opinion of the desired car as a whole, how well it handles, looks, feels etc...

I always buy a car for the car be it a second hand 1.8 GTI with high tax and poor economy but it's worth it to Me if I had the income not some brand new 1.2TDI Clio for example.

A recent Top Gear episode showed how much you can get for a few grand on the second hand market compared to buying new - incredible

Mine says 8.7L/100 on the dash.

My 1.8 astra is getting more than that :pac:

It's broken. My Golf GTi has better economy than that.

Why buy a fluence when you can get a much nicer looking megane for the same price?

Anyone leaving a diesel two years between servicing is looney.
Mine says 8.7L/100 on the dash.

I get that on a run in the ZT.

Probably got cocky about it's amazing fuel economy and ran out of diesel!
