Hi I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about this?

Have a problem with an Astra. Turn the ignition key and starter motor engages but car doesn't start. I checked the battery, it's working perfect. So I put a new starter motor w/solenoid in. Same problem. Checked all battery connections, all connections at the motor and solenoid, all fine. Car will start no problem if push started.

I'm stumped. Anyone have any ideas? Doing my head in.

    Thanks a million.

What year / engine size / petrol or diesel?

I read your other post in the main forum. If I read it right, your say that the motor is spinning but the engine isn't turning with it?

Teeth on the flywheel could be chewed, but I suppose if they were, when the engine is after been run, a different side of it would be at the starter and then it would engage with the motor again and work.Might need to run the starter out of the car to see if the pinion is moving in and out.
