What the hell is this phenomenon about? Women making this ugly pouty face for photos - it looks idiotic. I thought it was a joke first few times I saw it, but it seems to be something people are doing to look cool.

And before anyone asks, yes I have been living in a cave/abroad for the most of the last 6 years...

because men react positively, same as any other trend with respect to our appearance.

men complain about things like orange skin or making stupid faces but the fact is if it didn't get these women what they're after (attention from men) they wouldn't do it.

that's not to say that i think men like it. maybe men are thinking, 'hey she looks like a total ****ing moron, i bet i can get the ride easy!' or maybe it's just idiots attracting other idiots. for whatever reason, it works, so they keep doing it. i've seen it happen with too many idiotic things. baby voices, wearing slathered on makeup, etc. that horrible duck face crap is no exception.

Yeah you see the thing with that is......men react positively to well applied fake tan that makes it look like the girl has nice bronzed skin, men react positively to girls that have nicely applied make-up that makes them look better, there is probably a human looking way of pouting that some models do in photos and that some girls can pull off that looks good too...... but the umpa lumpa that puts her make-up on with a trowel and sticks her lips out like a retarded duck is taking the things men like and men react positively to and getting them so completely wrong that it isn't even funny.

It's girls copying things that men react positively to in girls that do it right and then doing it very very wrong.

maybe so, but i've seen girls get compliments on pictures in which they are doing the duck face, where they look absolutely ridiculous.

maybe men have different tastes about what looks like a duck face and what looks like a sexy pout.

i noticed that you didn't provide a positive example of talking like a child. that's the thing that drives me mental, grown women talking with little girl voices.

Can't say I ever noticed anyone doing it. Wasn't aware it was a thing. I imagine I would find it a mix between annoying and ridiculous if I did though.

It's supposedly done ironically- but you just know "irony" is a cover for a desperate earnestness to look sexy.
