    Hi,

I am a newbie to road cycling.

I am on a very tight budget and will only be doing low mileage
in a hilly terrain, so have seen these two 2010 bikes:

    Giant defy 4 compact

    or

    claud butler milano

I can get the bikes both around the same price.
The Milano has a huge discount and a far higher spec.

I had compared the giant and the comparable price claud Echelon.

Of these the giant I preferred, but as I know nothing of the milano, I am not sure.

It appears to be far superior (milano)with shimano sora and carbon forks, but I am unsure of the 23 (milano) tyres or 25(giant), for comfort and puncture resistance

The roads around here are not great surfaces.

    Any help would be great
    thanks

tyres cost something like 20 euro each. I wouldn't let that be the deciding factor.

Either bike will be fine. If I had to make a choice I would go for the Sora equipped Claude Butler. As mentioned in previous thread the tyres are irrelevant in your choice. Go with the one YOU like better ;)
