I’m thinking of getting the NAS box in the above link but have a question I can’t find an answer to.

I have a Phillips TV with a built in media player, I can stick in an external HD or USB drive into the USB port on the TV and it will detect as a external HD and play Media files. In fact I’m amazed at how well the TV works as a media player, no issues with codes at all.

Anyway my question is, if I connect the above NAS to the TV via USB with a Raid configuration will the TV detract as a HD, I know some USB ports on NAS boxes are just for printing etc and I'm not sure if this one is the same.

    No, you can't do that.

Very few NAS boxes have USB slave functionality.

If they have a USB port, it functions as a USB host, meaning you can plug USB devices (printers, external HDDs, etc) into the NAS. But it doesnt work the other way around.

Crap I was hoping it would, I tend to watch a lot of HD vids from my HD so I want to avoid streming if I can.

Interesting BUT it looks like you can pair it with a laptop/pc only and then connect it to another device via a usb port. Doesn't look like it will work directly with a NAS. I may be wrong though....

Yea was thinking the same, I emailed and asked if it would work with a NAS Box. Waiting on a reply.
