No not Take That. The ones of the hair variety :P

I bought one for playing football because i kept getting hair in my eyes. They look great and hardly noticeable because my hair covers most of it, plus i look pretty cool. Lately when i go out in public my hair goes all over the place and ends up looking pretty stupid. Would i get away with wearing a man band in normal day to day life

Here's Allesandro Matri to model what it looks like

PS My hair is pretty much the same length and colour.

    No.

If you wanna have long hair and play sports, wear the band playing sports for pratical reasons but not outside of it.

I wouldn't wear it as a fashion accessory. It's not one, and you might as well pop on a sarong while you're at it.

No. Fine for football etc. .. Do you happen to resemble said footballer or is it just hair length and colour :D

I'd make assumptions about a chap wearing a hair-band and think a lot of people would but if you like it, then wear it.

The top hairband is too much a style statement I think. If your clothes in general suit that look, go for it, otherwise you'd look a bit off.
If you're already wearing the plainer one for sports, you can definitely wear it the rest of the time. You'll quite probably get a slagging for it, but no more than for having long hair anyway, so you should be able to take it ;). No need to wear it in the style of Becks, just on the hairline like that other soccer player above looks good, IMO.

My brother used to have the exact same hair, and used the same elastic hairband to keep his hair out of his eyes while playing football. He didn't wear it outside the pitch though - so I think it's down to your own personal choice. You could go on a trial run and see what kind of reaction you get and if you feel comfortable. I'd wear it a bit more like the first footballer than like Becks if you're gona try it.

It's a bit sad though that a guy like yourself can't just wear what he wants!
