Hopefully someone in the know can answer the following, I done a motercheck on a car I'm thinking of buying and it has come back as outstanding finance agreement. The garage have advised that this is a stocking facility with Bank of Scotland and is very common, every car in their yard will show up. He advised that it will clear the day I buy the car.

    Is this common??

Also while it has service history and milage confirmed in logbook there is nothing showing against database. Car is a 2006 and serviced every year since.

    Would you walk away?

call bank of scotland with the ref that motorcheck gave you and ask them. It may be common for that garage, but it's not standard.

    +1 on calling RBS.

Motorcheck have come back having talked to RBS and advised that all is clear today and they will be updating records.

Is the fact that there are no odometer readings registered against it unusual?

If its an irish car, I dont see how there could be any mileage records put against it so IMO its normal.

sound thanks, I thought they were registering milage on a central database for the last few years, no worries I'll press on with buying once mechanic has given the all clear.

a lot of cars have entries on the mileage register. Some garages do it when servicing cars, it's very erratic though.
