I wonder will organisers be useing the wooden lodge style backdrop sets like previous rounds?.

This is on Sky and RTE, right? Any idea who each have doing punditry? I assume Sky will have the same commentators as they had for the shoot-out. Heading along on Sunday, really looking forward to this.

As far as I know Eurosport are covering this event.

Yeah, looks like you're right. Don't know where I got the idea it was Sky/RTE.

When the tournament was announced in January, RTE said they would provide coverage throughout the event, but alas on the eve of the tournament RTE are nowhere to be seen, typical really, they are probably off covering a ploughing championship ssomewhere!!

Eurosport are fairly decent though, Mike Hallett and Dave Hendon being their better pundits.

Yeah, I thought I remembered something about RTE, was sure Sky were involved too, though.

Eurosport are fine, but I think they just look a bit rubbish next to the BBC, which is probably the best coverage I've seen of any sport in Europe at least.

Agreed its hard to beat the Beeb they have set a high standard with their coverage over the years, I would love to see Sky back involved at some time in the future though.

Can't really remember them, but they would bring the money, which can only be good. It's hard to judge anything from it, but they were ok for the Shootout. Decent commentary, but could have done without a few of the "sky touches" like the girls to walk out with the players and that ludicrous voiceover announcing the shot-clock.

I may be wrong, but don't think that the girls and voices were Skys doing. More to do with the sponsors and WSA.

I'll be at the final on Sunday night too. Looking forward to it!

You could be right, I just assumed they were. It's a very "Sky" type of thing.

was there today and going tomorrow cause i got free tickets. Nice venue I have to say, well suited for a 1 table set up or possibly 2 at a push. Good value for money it seemed. Half decent crowd, I'd say about 200-250 ppl?!

For the snooker itself, standard was fairly poor if I must be honest, watched 3 matches and the highest break was 82 I believe by Matthew Stevens. open to correction there. Its not hard to see why some of these guys like Gerard Greene etc are not in the top 16.

enjoyable evening to get outta the house, I'd recommend it for the price, all day tickets tomorrow at 10 euro for all sessions, you can't go wrong:D

Anthony Hamilton had a 132 and 92 break in his 4-2 win over Tom Ford, i would'nt have considered that a poor standard.

Was very impressed with the snooker and the set up yesterday, first time i've been at the Helix, lots of freebies floating around for the snooker yesterday and today, even if you dont one, the all day ticket at €10 is great value.

Tickets still available for Saturday but Sunday's final almost sold out, pity it's a best of seven final though.

I didn't see the hamilton match but the 3 match I did see the standard was pretty poor.

stevens match tonight against dale was pretty poor but Williams played very well against Hamilton tonight, he made a 143 and a 111, in 4 frames which is excellent, apart from Williams the rest have played poor-average snooker. It makes me want to get my stig outta the closet and dust it off:)
