What screen " size for a boxroom?

I'm wanting to get a HDTV for a box room. What screen size would best service me here? I can imagine 40"+ being too big so I was looking at around 32" maybe?

I'm not sure about whether to get 720 or 1080. Am I likely to notice a difference? I'll be connecting a bluray player up to it for blue ray films, not too fussed at the about TV stations per se - though it's gonna need to be Saorview compatible.

Thinking about the same thing as yourself. The following TV is Full HD and Soarview compatible according to this post. It's also pretty reasonably priced:

There is little point getting an HD set if the screen size, relative to the viewing distance, is too small to allow you to see the HD detail.

Have a look at the chart: http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=60075821&postcount=10

It all depends on whether you want to be able to discern the extra detail available in HD or not.

You have to sit a lot closer than most people think, for your eyes to be able to resolve the detail in an HD picture:

At 2.4m you are going to want a 50", not 42"

I was going to get a 42" for a seating distance of 2.5m before I read up on the topic, so I ended up getting a 50" plasma and am so glad I did. The wife was dead against it and thought 42' was too big for the room, so I went and ordered the 50" anyway.

Once she saw it though, all objections vanished. :D

So is that graph saying if you're sitting further than 10feet away from the screen resolution is neglible ie. might as well just stick with 480 or 720 over 1080?

When does screen size come in to it? Surely for a small 10' boxroom anything above 40" is overkill.

The graph is saying if you are sitting 10 feet away from the screen, you will only benefit from a 1080P screen if it is 50" or larger. Sure 40"+ is probably overkill for such a small room, so it's probably not worth worrying about whether a TV is full HD or not.
