As Minecraft Beta approaches 5 million registered users and 1.5 million purchased users, some good news from America at the Game Developer's Choice Awards

Minecraft, a low-fi collaborative construction game for computers (with mobile versions in the works), received Best Debut Game, Best Downloadable Game, and the Innovation Award.
The game isn't even finished and yet just shy of 1.5 million people have paid between €10 and €15 for early access, funding further development in the process.
Minecraft was the only game which was part of the GDCA's sibling awards show, the Independent Games Festival Awards, where it won in two categories - both the Audience Award and the IGF's Seumas McNally Grand Prize.
