hey all, just looking for a few opinions of something that is happening,

    here's the story,

4 people renting a house, one moves out, another person moves in and pays the person who moves out the security deposit.

said person lives in the house for 4 months then decides to leave giving less than 21 days notice.

(when said person moved in they were informed that on leaving they would have to fill the room i.e. place an advert and find suitable replacement)

said person leaves halfway though month without placing any advert for room until the final week of tenancy.

the 3 others have to cover rent for the following month as house rent is paid as whole and not per person basis.

said person didn't take it upon them selves acquire and sign lease.

said person is now taking legal action to obtain deposit from residents of house(even though the deposit was passed to the last person who stayed in that room in the rented accommodation!!)

now how silly does that sound??
as I said I'm looking for opinions and not looking for advice!

    Sounds silly.

Residents need a solicitor if legal action is being pursued.

    What kind of legal action?

so far I'm not sure what legal action they are taking (if any, they could be trying to bluff)

Also as far as I know, there was no written notice of termination of tenancy to the agency, and pretty much nothing written in paper to say the person was actually residing in the house(except a couple of paid bills) and the tenant was only residing just less than four months at the residence! and they had not acquired a copy of the lease to sign! as well as no receipt of deposit paid
(and as everyone knows when renting leased accommodation its up to the person who leaves to fill the room to acquire the deposit from the next tenant)
