Seanad electoral register

I heard recently that scholars can vote. Just wondering if it's true.

Also does anyone have any thoughts on the candidates? I see Bacik and Norris are going again - naturally. Who'll be taking Ross's place though? I'm rather assuming the other two will get re-elected.

Also where are the ballots cast for the Seanad elections?

Bacik will have her work cut out. Arguably she's gained a reputation for being an elitist careerist. She has to play down her hard left ideology if she wants to convince the middle classes to vote for her.

Yes. Did you send off the voter registration form you got on Trinity Monday?

It's a postal vote, ballots are sent out by the Alumni/Proctors/Seanad Electoral Office in No. 5.

Only if they are graduates. :)

Nope, undergrad scholars vote too, per the Seanad Electoral Act.

DO I get sent out a form? I've graduated but have no idea how to vote. I want to give that liberal unionist chap my no.1. I'd like to shake things up.

If one registered when graduating, am I automatically on the register, or should I have filled in another form? Is there a register that one can check?

I'm not a scholar, was just curious! I've heard the seanad electoral office are being pricks though...my friend graduated over summer and they're claiming she never sent in her form, she says she handed it to them personally.

    Also thanks for the answers!

Just bumping this question, if anyone knows? I've filled out so many forms in the last few years...

How do I check if I'm registered or not? I'd really like to vote for anyone but that chauvinist.

Do you have to walk in to vote? Can't I send a postal ballot? I'm really not arsed travelling to Dublin to give some irrelevant nobody an ego boost.

My apologies if I'm missing something: Isn't it true to say that being able to post your vote will not change the fact that some "irrelevant nobody" will still get their ego boost? Which begs the question as to why you want to vote for an irrelevant nobody in the first place?? I see you would like to "shake things up" in a few posts previous.

Its like a raffle. My chances of ever winning a raffle is tiny buy I'll pay my 2 euro anyway, if the raffle ticket seller literally walks right up to me and demands the money. I'm not going to seek out the raffle ticket seller.

I'm wondering if I'm on the register too. I sent my form in before Christmas so i should be but i haven't gotten anything in the post yet, while my dad has been getting manifestos for the last week from NUI so i'm getting suspicious....any way to find out?

You should have received literature from the candidates by now; contact the Alumni/Proctors/Seanad office at 01 896 1448/1218.

Thanks for that, I'm not on it...the form must have been sent too late or gotten lost in the post!
