I have an excel worksheet. When its opened I want it to open in a new instance of Excel.I dont want this as the default behaviour for Excel..just this worksheet.I also want the worksheet to open by usual methods e.g doubleclick on desktop etc...guess I want the worksheet to behave like an .exe
    Thanks if you can help!

Firstly an excel worksheet is dependent on its workbook to open. Hoewver, I presume that you are referring to the workbook opening in a new instance and not a sheet.
Anyhow, how will MS Excel know to open the spreadsheet in a new instance until Excel has already opened it in which case it is part of an existing instance.
If you want it to open in a new instance then create a VBS file or similar that creates a new instance of excel and then opens the file

There is an app out there - I haven't seen this in years - it turns Excel sheets into standalone exes

    This might be it http://www.exceltoexe.com/

I think there's more than one version. All I remember I've used one that worked.

I'd try the exe on a machine without office installed to check it doesn't have any dependencies - though I think core elements of office are on every Win installation these days.
