NCT Tomorrow ... Help Please!

I've my NCT tomorrow at half three. Coming back from work today my emmission control light came on. Bloody typical. It happened before and I had the lambda sensor replaced. I had the car serviced last weekend. It's running like a dream so can't imagine it being anything major.

Quick question: If I call a garage tomorrow will they be willing and able to run the diagnostic machine and reset it before the test or is that a big no-no?

    Anyone done this before?

they could reset it, but if the problem isin't fixed then the light will come straight back on.

I understand yeah but the last time it came on, before I replaced the sensor, I got it reset and it stayed off for a day or so. That's all I need to pass the bloody NCT.

    Cheers for the reply.

worth a shot, it may have been a glitch that might not return :)

Cheers Andy. It's the timing of it that's frustrating. 24 hours before the NCT! Someone's taking the pi$$ ;)

If it is a permanent fault, light will come straight back on. If not, then light will stay out until fault occurs again.
    Worth a try.

Disconnect battery for an hour or so, reconnect and see if it comes back on

The light being on will not cause the car to fail. But obviously if there is an actual emissions problem, the car will fail.

    +1

Emission light, engine warning light, etc, are no reason for fail.
They check your emissions anyway, so there's no reason for them to look at car own diagnostics system.

If your emissions are fine your car will pass.
