does it have an IP address? or is it set to AUTO.

After trying what B0lt suggested, assuming your computer has an IP address,

Open your browser and type in http://209.85.143.104

You should get the Google home page, if you do it is a DNS issue.

Manually set the DNS settings to Open DNS (www.opendns.com) and see if it helps -

    DNS 1 - 208.67.222.222

    DNS 2 - 208.67.220.220

If it is a laptop, some disable the network port when running on battery power to save energy.
