    Hi there,

I hope someone here might know the answer. I want to get transcripts for a case from the early 90's, it was a high profile case at the time.

Does anyone know how I would get transcripts, online or hard copy? (I'm overseas so can't just walk in or anything). Would they even give them to me? (my father was the one on trial).

    Hope someone knows,

    Thanks.

There wouldn't be transcripts of the case.

    What's the case name?

    Thanks for your reply,

Don't really want to give out the name on the open forum if I don't need to.

Do you know what information would be available on the case? Would it not be in public records or national archives at all?

    Thanks.

Try IRLII I guess or else your other option is to go see if they have a copy in the Central Office.

You should be able to get the holding or at least an outline of the case and the holding.
If it was indeed high profile at least.

    Not all cases are reported.

The stenographer company that was in court recording the case would have the transcript. They are usually emplyed by the defendants in the case. From what I know you will need permission to obtain the transcript from the firm of solicitors who employed the stenographer company. If the transcript has not been 'written up' you will be charged x amount per sheet to have it written up.

On the other hand if the transcript has been written up and you require a copy then you will need the permission from the person who paid for the transcript to be done up initially. Obtaining a copy is by far a lot cheaper.

Hope I have been of some help.
