OAP Free Allowance

    Hi,
I would appreciate some advice. My mother passed away recently. She was an OAP and therefore received the government free allowance on her bill. She lived alone but there will be someone staying in the house until it is sold.

How do we continue to pay the bill - do we just contact the department of social welfare so they can remove the free allowance? And also do we need to change the name on the bill or leave it as is? My brother will probably buy the house and is willing to put his name on the bill but he lives in the UK so don't know if that is possible?
