    Hello Folks,

    Hope you can help.

I brought my X type 2.5V6 for NCT and she passed except for the parking brake.

    The results were Nearside 0.540kN ( offside 2.320kN ) 77% imbalance.

What are the correct readings and more importantly what do i need to do to pass the NCT?

    Regards,

    Chevy RV

Alot of mondeo's(same car) suffer from sticking handbrake mechanisms on the calipers. Sometimes they can be free'd up but that usually only a temperary fix. A new caliper is the permenant fix.

    Thanks Nissan doctor,

Any idea what a new caliper would cost to be supplied and fitted?

Bit of a stetch there, the 2.5 x type is AWD, was there an AWD 2.5 Mondeo available?

At a guess of the top of my head your looking in the region of €200 but I'd have to check to be sure.

Not all x types are 4wd, they come in fwd too and the x type uses all the same mechanicals and platform as the mondeo.

I've never seen or heard of a 4wd mondeo but a couple of the US models were available with 4wd.(the ford contour and mercury....somethingorother are all the same car too)

    :)

But all 2.5 ones are AWD. A bit of googling reckons that the caliper off the X Type is the same as off a Mondeo Estate.

Now why these dudes specify the Mondeo estate must be significant enough as you'd imagine they know their beans.

You will get a non genuine calliper for about half the price of the original part from dealer. I know of someone that purchased one from motor factor and it was fine about 6 months ago. same problem and failed nct
