Passport information for trip to Spain?

    When travelling to Spain (Tenerife), does anyone know if the Spanish authorities have to be contacted to inform them of your travelling. I've heard that Spain have a different policy to other countries

    They seek API (advance passenger information). If you're flying in from Ireland or UK, airlines collect this info at check-in. I'd you're going Ryanair, you submit that info for your online check in process anyway. It's basically your nationality and passport number.

    Nothing sinister or complicated!

    Does the same happen with Aer Lingus when you do online check-in?
