    Caps dude, caps.

There's a mosin nagant and a few KAR 98 models and the ever so sexy but expensive m1 Garand knocking about these days, so somebody might get around to making a lee enfield, although I imagine it'd be a damn long time in coming.

Unless you fancy taking a gamble on the possibililty that some company may decide to make lee-enfields on the cheap (which I doubt), you're either looking at "make do", or talk to shoot n'scoot.

An Airsoft Enfield from shoot n scoot will cost ya 624 Euros
and you will be on a waiting list for about 5-6 months if not more!!!!

An actual Real Firearm SMLE Mk. III (No.1 Mk.3)
currently retails in Ireland at only €473.05 :eek::eek:
They can be bought from Duffys in Galway.

    http://www.shoot.ie/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=172

The license for the real thing will cost you 80 Euros for 3 years! If you get a gun safe and join a shooting club you could get the real thing!! (excluding club membership fees and the safe you can buy the real thing for cheaper than the airsoft one)

Another option if you did not want to skirmish using one and only wanted something to
look at, is you could ask about buying a Real Firearm
and having it de-activated to a certain standard by the Gun Dealer. (which would have to be done after you pay and before you take possession of which would only happen after getting permission) You can Seek a Letter of Permission to hold a deactivated firearm from your Local Garda Super-Intendant (which is free) so you can have a nice wall hanger.

ICS are releasing an Enfield .303 sometime this year along with a 6mm M1 Garand and a Kar 98 but no concrete release date

You've never played with a marushin M1 Garand then. it fires 8 rounds (just like the real deal) of 8mm miniature planetoid d00m with intimidating noise. Like a battle rifle should.

Imagine that with 6mm .... pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffT.

I remember getting into an argument on boards before about this... to each his own! <walks away>

and no I've never even seen one in person. :(

Intimidating noise ... not sure about that chief. I still reckon that the WE M14 makes a far more impressive noise (that's comparing the m14 I've tried to my own garand). But - neah ... I'm sure someone else will post you think that m14 is loud, you should try my tactical thermonuclear airsoft device - now THATs loud!...

Itching for something in 8mm would love an SLME in 8mm
Have two big bags of BB's just lying on my shelf and have only one 8mm Glock and a really low powered revolver to fire them!

What's the advantage of 8mm BBs?

    They hurt more...
Actually, no clue - apart from the advantage of having more weight....

    Which could be a disadvantage?! <slaps self>

I would like to shoot a Garand! Or any of those lovely Marushins

if you're talking noise, then yea the WE m14 wins hands down everytime. It just has a far snappier blow back to it. The m1, when it's not in one of its moods, can be a bit sluggish. The fact that it's 8mm doesn't really come into play imho. i'd love to see a GOOD 6mm version.
That said, I still wouldn't part with that marushin for the world:D

When you get someone to call a hit (despite not being hit) based on the noise of a WE m14 then I'll concede :p

What ... you mean the 2nd one you have, apart from the one you sold to me? :D

Mike ... you have a problem dude.

i hate the idea of a 6mm enfield or M1 , both are proper Man's rifles big loud and a damn pleasure to shoot 6mm should be reserved for modern assault/ sub machine guns , 8mm for proper old school real rifles

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 863 ✭✭✭MonkeyGuy

This was sort of where the argument went before. I only buy BBs every one or two months, so it's hard for me to justify buying 8mm BBs for only one gun?

I totally get get that you love the Marushins but I love the Garand and I just wish someone would make an AEG out of it, cheap and cheerful. Even a gas one if it wasn't too expensive. I don't need complete realism, I want something that looks nice and performs well, for a fair price. Too much to ask?

il have nightmares but on a tech side cant see where you could fit a mech box, motor.and battery in either , no no no stop thinkin its wrong ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 863 ✭✭✭MonkeyGuy

See I look at it from a tech side too! Ok I'm giving myself too much credit, but when I see a lovely gun and I can't see a reason why you couldn't make an AEG version I cry and wonder why one doesn't exist!

There's a reason why an AEG hasn't been made already (of either the M1, or the M2. Or the KAR-98 or Lee Enfield either) . If it were that easy, it'd have been done by now ....

There was - many moons ago - a conversion kit made to turn an m14 into a "like M1 Garand". Never seen it though, so likelihood of finding a kit for sale is dubious to put mildly.

Yeah I saw a converted one, on scoutthedoggie all be it, but it looked pretty sweet. Well it doesn't have to be AEG, I'd like a spring Kar98 or Moisin Nagant or Springfield or maybe an SMLE?! :D

The Marui Uzi gearbox design is long and narrow so it might fit in the body of an M1 or M2. It would probably have to be a plastic or veneered body though.
