    Hi!

Look, I'm not looking for a way out of paying, nor do I have any intention of not paying, before all the high and mighty see the title and decide to comment to give out. Not sure, but I assume there's no legal infringement by asking either!

Anyways, I simply don't have the money this month to pay it, but will pay in a few weeks. I was wondering how many reminders/how long you can get away with putting it off before a summons?? I know the usual, I should just cut back and pay it because everyone has to, kinda comments so if that's all you're gonna say please don't bother. It's a simple question from someone who will genuinely pay in a few weeks!!!

    Yep that's what I do.
Its about €13.33 a month (far less painful than spending €160 in one go)

Didn't know you could do that. Might be worth looking into alright. Can you start it when you're already late? I guess I can look into that one myself...! Thanks guys :D

I have always paid my TV licence annually by direct debit. Last year my licence was due for renewal in May and I ignored the notice I received as I presumed that An Post had sent it to me by mistake as the direct debit had been in place for a few years. Anyway, I got a reminder letter and a final warning letter before I copped on and checked my bank account and found that An Post hadn't taken the money by DD.

To answer your question, you could technically delay paying it for two months but when you renew they automatically backdate it to the date it was due.

Might be worth your while buying TV licence stamps, I think they cost €5 or €6 and you can get them in your local post office.

Ring them and discuss your options. They understand that these are tough times for everyone. They're not out to catch you out and force you to pay a fine... they want the money the easy way and they'll almost certainly work with you to figure something out - be it direct deposit or whatever.
