    Hi

i was reading the thread on recommended books on psychology, after checking a few websites these books seem to be very expensive (over 100 usd)

any know a good place to get them cheaper? i tried my local library

i was just looking to get a basic book on pyschology to see if i was interested enough in it to do a course

    books ive priced are

Psychological Science: The Mind, Brain and Behavior

    Biopsychology - John P.J. Pinel

I used amazon's marketplace for psych textbooks for college. Generally, it worked out at 50% or less than the full price compared to the high street. Postage wasn't too bad and I can't complain about the condition of the books. This was around 2007.

The second hand section of Chapters in Parnell St. occasionally has the odd book, also.

OP are you in Dublin? I have not been there in a few years but there is a second hand book shop just down from the side entrance to Brown Tomas. I think it may be called the secret bookshop, anyway I have picked up a few text books there in the past.

However, you are right about the price I reckon my own personal library would cost more than 15,000e to replace which has been built up over nearly 15 years.

The problem with the psychology textbooks is that they keep updating them every couple of years. So one book (like the Pinel) may have many editions going back a good few years.
You can get the older ones on Amazon and places cheap enough. But when you are doing a course you may have to buy the newest edition which are usually pretty dear.
    Try www.bookdepository.co.uk also.
