    Hi folks,

Other half is driving on the motorway to work yesterday evening when all electrics including lights go off. They then come back about five seconds later after she applies the brakes. She continues on and a couple of miles later the same thing happens again. The car is a Hyundai Coupe '06. She also mentioned that the clock in the car reset itself itself back to 1.00pm. The car has never given her trouble before. Obviously she is going to get it seen to but has anyone any ideas what it might be? She's worried there could be a large bill on the way from a garage.

Check that the battery is clamped in place and the terminals are tight.

IMO whilst a main dealer might be able to look for error codes etc, if it comes to actually tracing an electrical issue, then a good auto electrician would be better.
However, if all electrics are going then check the battery connection first. The fact that braking "woke" the system up again could imply that the battery isn't secured.

Thanks for the replies lads. Haven't had a chance to look at it myself yet as she's working nights. I'll check out the battery later to make sure it's secure and give it a test.

when you say all electrics do you mean all as in the power steering and brake servo etc too? If that is the case it could be the ignition switch. Also if that is the case she shouldn't drive it until it's sorted.
