The new report out yesterday saying that the department of finance gave numerous warnings on the bubble imploding http://news.eircom.net/breakingnews/19310296/, if it came out prior to election would you have voted any differently? Said social partnership ws to blame as well and should not have been implemeted.

    Also, report dated December 2010.

Do you mean, would I have voted for FF given this report?
    Still, not a chance!

Sorry, I meant would Labour still have got such a big vote as the report states benchmarking was one of our downfalls of the recession.

I think the real question here is would FF even have gotten 20 seats had this report been released before the election? Why was this released now? What stopped it being released earlier?

Should Bertie Aherns entitlements be withdrawn as he has been shown up publicly to be a liar? Should the incoming Government examine the possibility of taking action against McCreevy, Cowen & Ahern for ignoring this advice and landing us in this quagmire we find ourselves in?

My biggest question is the timing of the release of this report? Unfortunately I already know the answer it was suppressed to minimise the damage to FF.

Doubt Lenny would have gotten in if that report had been released earlier.
From what I heard on the radio Lenny published it on the last day he was legally obliged to.

    1. AFAIK the report had to be published within 90 days and yesterday or today would have been the last of these (as the report was received by the Minister in December)
    2. The report wasn't released before the election because it may have meant that FF would do poorly in the election. Oh wait.

Bertie's "entitlements" should have been withdrawn long ago. However, I'd say that it would be very difficult legally to do so.
As for taking action, I'd imagine that it their actions are covered under some form of indemnity (like the Dáil privileges)

    Why else!

Hmmmm if this was after a trial and new evidence like this became available you could call for a retrial. Shame we don't have the facility as a nation to call for a rerun of the Dublin West election.

All we can do is ensure we save details of these articles so we can produce them for the next elections these sham artists are involved in!

What I want to know is what Brian Cowen's new excuse will be now? His excuse all along has been "I acted on the advise I was given" - clearly that is a barefaced lie and he did quite the opposite. I get so tired of hearing people claim Cowen is an honest man when there is so much evidence that suggests he is anything but an honest man. Let's not even bring up Golfgate again.

I suppose that's the end of Brian Cowen's "we acted on the best possible advice at the time" crutch.

As obvious as it was that Fianna Fáil were increasing spending by too much each year, it's interesting to hear that they did so against the advice of the civil servants, time and time again.

Well given he is getting one hell of a payoff deal at our expense I think he should be pursued further.

In fact looking at the money all of these failures have gotten I think it would be warranted that this be examined very very closely to see if there is any recourse. Rewarding failure should not be tolerated within any organisation or society.

fianna fail would have gotten 20 seats had they been behaving worse than gadaffi in the past month and mugabe in the past ten years , this report only confirms what everyone knew and fianna fail voters merley rationalised

I disagree most of the seats they won were hard fought and this information could have swayed some of the people who did give them 1st preferences or transfers.

So him being involved in this Government since 2002 means he had no input at all then into this crisis?

Also he ensured that not did the seeds of destruction grow, he ensured they destroyed our economic sovereignty. And again he ignored advice given just like his predecessors.

Anyone else hoping now that Fine Gael & Labour fail to reach an agreement and that we go back to the polls again soon?

I'm a Dublin West voter and I'm absolutely furious that Lenihan has been able to deceive his way back into representing me.

20 seats is still far too many.

Wasn't he allowed into cabinet meetings when he was a junior minister (prior to 2007)?

So Cowen is a bare-faced liar too. Colour me surprised.

This casts in a new light all his denials about his collusion with Seanie Fitz and the developers and his actions with regard to NAMA and the bank guarantee which are costing the Irish state in the hundreds of billions.

    What a disgrace.

The report confirms what some economic analysts in the media have been saying for a long time.

It was one of many reasons why I didn't vote for FF or The Green Party.
