Hi all. I am just wondering if anyone on here would be in a position to point me in the right direction for permission to shoot on lands. I am in South Tipp in the Clonmel area, but am willing to travel a little further. I am looking for lands to hunt foxes and rabbits with a rifle. Any replys can be PM to me. Thanks everyone.

I don't think your get many replies to this question Anyone who got their permissions worked hard to get them and will not give them away lightly. You will just have to get in the car and drive to farms and ask/get those permssions yourself.

Main thing is to show people your shooting insurance, give them your name, address, and phone number so they know who is shooting on their land. And try to get any permissions signed, just a simple few words will do, with their name and the address of the land.

As CliveJ said lads will be reluctant as they don't know what experience you have or the kind of person you are, this is nothing personal but they will also be putting their neck on the line by referring you.

Like the boys say, on bike , knock on doors, bring license and insurance, try sheep farms this time of year , most of those lads are glad of someone to thin out the fox population at this time, get permissions in writing, type up a few blanks to bring with you, get farmer to fill in the signature date, acreage and address and you'll probably want folio numbers if you want to use this evidence for licensing although you don't want to wreck farmer's head at initial stage.

if he has a licence for the rifle already he wont need any of that only verbal permission to shoot. just bring the insurance and licence maybe.
as you said all the rest of it will wreck the farmers head

+1 if someone came here looking to shoot a few birds, foxes id say shoot away. If they started asking for folio numbers id laugh at them. Folio numbers are only needed for deer anyway i think

if ya dont fancy knockin on doors find a few fields with sheep in them, the farmer will be around at some stage and ask him there. I drove passed a lad pullin into a field the other day so i pulled over for a chat and to ask if i could shoot, glad i did and he was dlighted and said this is only a small spot and asked would i come to his home place and shoot some foxes for him because he had a problem last year and lost a few lambs, he even drew me a map:D just dont be afraid to ask sure the worst that'll happen is they say no thanks and ya go to the next!

well lad best advice is just get out and ask around we shoot from Cahir into Clonmel and up to Tipp never being knocked back by any land owner most will oblige once you ask nothing any farmer hates more then a lad on his land without permission.all our shooting is done all over south tipp and i have found the farmers around brilliant to deal with.
