Fake Taxis

Had a taxi earlier in which the driver tried to overcharge me,
and upon getting out of the taxi (after an argument regarding the cost),
I noticed that the number of the taxi had been plastered over another previous taxi number.

Hoping that somebody could tell me if there is somewhere I can check the authenticity of the taxi number,
or in the event (or likelyhood of it being fake) where I would report such incident.

    Cheers.

Did you ask the driver for a receipt? If so the number of the licence plate of the taxi will be on this. If you didn't well I'm afraid there is not really much you can do.

    Always ask for a receipt.
Even if the driver is genuine and a gentleman, I still ask for a receipt

If you're ever in a taxi and things seem dodgy, look at the yellow sticker in the windscreen and save a text message to yourself with the details.
