Disable recording button on Sky?

When my nephew is in my house he messes around with the Sky + remote control. He often goes through the stations and starts recording a random programme. This means that if I have something recording and my nephew changes the station the message "to view *whatever station* choose a recording to cancel" appears. My nephew then cancels the recording of my programme. I often go into the planner and see loads of kids programmes recorded and "cancelled" next to all of my programmes.

Is there any way I can disable the recording button on Sky while my nephew is in my house and then enable it again later? Alternatively is there any way I can change the order of the way the programmes to cancel appears so that the recording my nephew has started appears on top so he cancels that instead of my programme? Failing those two options is there a Sky + remote control available that has buttons for changing the channels and the volume but no recording button?

When I set recordings now I usually just set series link, record, and then use the blue button to KEEP the recording also. I have myself have in the past often been finger happy with the planner delete key and often deleted an unwatched show by accident, since the Keep step has been added all is good. :)

Actually I think also depending on your pin settings you can also require a pin to be entered before deleting the kept recording, I believe I came across this on a 2nd box I had when I was also setting up the keep option, but turned it off that was overkill for me.

Kill your nephew:D There's no way to disable the record button, best bet is get a cheap replacement like the ones sold in the Euro shops and remove the record button from it.He can still change channels but won't be able to record anything or wipe your stuff.Hide the proper Sky+ remote when he comes over.

That the perfect solution, I was jsut going to suggest that. I use a standard sky remote on one of our other TVs that is connected via RF to the Sky+ box in the other room. You can use it to select and play recorded programmes and all otehr functions you will need but there no way to set something to record from it so that should get around the problem, until he figures out how to use the buttons on the box itself ;)
