On Saturday February 26th 2011, Mr Karl Egington of Enigma Kickboxing, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, Ireland held his first kickboxing promotion under the sanction of the International Kickboxing Federation. The Dalton Hotel was to be the intimate venue where fight fans would witness some excellently matched bouts with the finale being an Irish light middleweight title fight between the highly rated Michael Sweeney (Enigma) and the experienced and durable Kayne Nelson (Dragonslair, Kilkenny). Both fighters wasted no time getting down to business, exchanging strong blows throughout the first round, Sweeney putting his extensive boxing experience to good use while Nelson ducked and weaved and returned well timed kicks. The second round started off in the same manner , however, the power in Sweeney's punches began to tell near the end of the round with Nelson going down for a count. Nelson was not ready to give up yet and fought his way back into the round. Round three began and Sweeney could smell victory, abandoning his kicks for some devastating combinations of punches to the body and head. At the conclusion of the third round, the referee decided that Kayne Nelson had absorbed enough punishment and called an end to the bout, raising Michael Sweeney's arm in victory, the new IKF AM FCR All Ireland light middleweight champion.
Following the bout, ringside physician, Dr. Maura Grummell, with the agreement of event representative Joe Wilson, recommended a medical suspension from all contact sports for Kayne Nelson for a period of 45 days.
