This is a pilot scheme to see how it would work to have a pool of volunteers to be able to call on to do various tasks. During the cold snap the people at the centre realised there were a lot of people willing to do things but it was difficult to organise volunteers at short notice under those circumstances. It could be an interesting way to get involved in volunteering. It seems to build on the concept behind the rapid response corps but to operate at a more local level and with a wider range of skills levels.
