Golfers Elbow

Seems a bit early in the season, but I have got golfers elbow in my right elbow. I have never had this before. Over the winter I went to the range about two times a week and did a bit of swinging in the back garden of an evening. Nothing too excessive, I don't think.
Its not majorily painful(hurts though lifting up my daughter) and I'm still able to play but I'm a bit wary in case it will get worse now the long evenings are starting.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience or advice? To stop playing is not what I want to hear but ice and rest is what I'll have to probably do.
I don't have a very tight grip either.

I have had the same problem in my right elbow since before Xmas! I hurt it from excessive lifting in work tho! It hasn't got any worse.. Yet there hasn't been any significant improvement in 3 months! I now wear a elbow support and it doesn't effect my swing! i am aware of it however when putting or doing little chips ect. It is a barable annoyance! Things like trying to remove the flag stick when it's at arms length, in other words tending it! I get an agonizing pain in my arm when I try to lift it.
Not sure if it is golfers elbow.. I'm just hoping it will sort itself out. And as long as it doesn't cause pain during my swing I'm happy enough! I'm sure if this was my left elbow my golf would be seriously compromised!

A pal of mine developed it last year, the only thing that worked for him was accupuncture.

I got it in my left elbow in November. Have done physio and used ice packs and creams like Volterol and Oruvail. The physio told me not to play until it cleared up otherwise it could become chronic. Started again last week and while there is still some discomfort it seems ok now.

Taking 4 months off at this time of year is not however something you want to do.

I'm told that a steroid injection is very effective but get a specialist to do it rather than your GP.

hi .have been there with the tennis /golfers elbow. i had both, which do you have ?? if the pain is on the in side of the elbow its golfers, if its on the outside of the elbow its tennis elbow. both are very sore. i got mine from a change in grip size on a driver. anyway if your in dublin go to murray's chemist on talbot street. they are very helpful and will give you an ortopedic strap which is inexpensive and when worn properly for a few weeks should clear it up .worked for me any way, just lift the pint with the other hand
    good luck

Oh its golfers allright. Pain on the inside of elbow just near the small bone that juts out beside big bone....kinda where funny bone is. Its the ligaments attached to the small bone that are the problem.

Funny I played today(33pts, scratched 4 holes v messy in spots esp drives) as it was a total cracker of a day and there is no pain now. I was messing about in the garden yesterday just practise chipping and pitching and it was killing me last night.

I obviously dont want it to get worse but I dont want to have to stop playing either. I might have to get one of those elbow supports.

    I live in Gway btw.
