Sit down with your designer and work out a detailed specification that you are happy with. Then send your plans to a professional to provide you with a BOQ which can then be priced item by item? it can provide you with an accurate pricing document with quantities and descriptions which can be sent to suppliers and contractors. I do them all the time for myself and other clients. At least you will be pricing like for like with your build. Better than hearsay on the internet.

About €1250 a sq meter for a standard build...

I think that's OTT for 'standard' build. I know a passive house being done for less than that atmo, and passive is always extra.....

What IS 'standard' build, anyhoo ?

...maybe so, but still sounds high for a 'standard' build. If you can build A2 in Skerries for €1059 inc VAT, then - not being a Pale person :) - I can't see how moving in a few miles adds that much......

Loads of (still) pertinent stuff here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055830286&page=10

BTW - I just spent all last week exhibiting at EcoBuild in London, and quoted buildings there this week. They're looking at GB£1200-1400 per m2, so Dublin needs to be coming in cheaper, really.
