We are thinking of sending our son, who has ASD, to Cluas. We have done the assessment, but before we commit to the course, we were hoping that someone could give us a feedback if they have done the course.

If anyone could PM with details then we would be much obliged.

This is written in plain english and nicely sums up the goals and the outcome of a trial conducted on the Tomatis sound therapy used by cluas.
    http://resources.metapress.com/pdf-preview.axd?code=uu45484t4630v287&size=largest

It was written as a response to a critique of the original article,
the abstract of which is here
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17610057

I don't have access to the journal from home so can't find any more information on the article or the critique but it would appear that if the Tomatis sound therapy has any effect it is no greater than a placebo.

Thanks GradMed, and sorry to revive an old thread. I was referred to Cluas by a professional (I guess I can discount that professional too).

So I went for an assessment. Surprisingly my results weren't that bad. You'd expect a shoddy outfit like them to give everyone bad results. But of course they said I could still benefit from the "therapy" or whatever they call it.

Here's the thing. I had to tell the tester about my life and stuff. And he made me feel much worse about myself! I already have depression and low self-esteem, thanks for making me feel even worse! And charging for it!

If you want to feel worse about yourself, there are easier and cheaper ways. I don't know if it's just that that particular tester was a sociopath or something, or whether it's common practice in the Tomatis world. A bit like a lot of advertising - make people feel inadequate or whatever, and then offer a solution.

I joined the forum just to post this.
