    Hi all,

Just got an '06 focus the other day and I'm not fully used to it yet.
I got into the car today after putting petrol in, turned the key fully and nothing happened except "engine systems fault" was displayed. I tried it again and the same thing happened. I took the key out and tried it again and it started but it still showed the error message. I stopped the car and then the engine, battery and gearbox light came on and a message saying "reduced acceleration" displayed. I then turned off the car completely an turned the key 2 clicks and left time for some of the lights to go off. It started ok and there were no more warnings.

I think (hope) I just turned the key too fast, did I?
Really can't face any repair bills at the moment....
    Thanks!

I bought it privately but everything is ok on it and yes it is a petrol.

I just thought that the error message displayed because I turned the key straight from 0 to start without giving it enough time.
Are you meant to turn the key 2 clicks and leave the lights on the dash come on and then go off before starting? When I do this it starts fine with no problems.
I haven't tried it again in case it's doing damage.

    Thanks!

It isn't blue? if you bought my sisters old car you should return it ASAP. Had way to much grief from the battery and alternator. Think there may have also been a dodgy cable somewhere in the electrics aswell. She had exactly the same problems as your describing. We lost count how many times it had to be taken to the garage because of the "engine system fault" message. No idea if it was a common fault, but her car was the single worst car I've ever come across.

I did have a google but couldn't find any answers for you. There seems to be some other with similar issues but as long as you can start the car in the "new" way I guess it's fine to drive.

No, thankfully its not blue. I'll try and find out if it was a common fault, hope it's nothing serious now:(
