I like my Hero. Quite stable running on 2.1 but a bit sluggish. Have read some good reports re froydvillain. Do you need to be a techie to install it and how much does it cost?

its free and very very easy. took me 2 hours from start to finish to root and install, including all my apps.

the phone flies now.

Thanks Tea Bag. I think I might give it a try. I have a few old handsets to keep me afloat if things go pear shaped.

Using 1.7.2 on my Hero and its pretty good, not as rock solid as modaco but it is android 2.2 - only problem is the full wipe
