Hi mate clonmel are doing distance membership for €150 that includes GUI card and insurance. It's probably the cheapest you will find. If you didn't have a handicap before you will need to go down and play 3 rounds ( they might take 2 I don't know). If you have a handicap last year then you could transfer it.

    Cheers

Ballinastoe country membership for €250. Probably a 1/2 hour drive from Sandyford so not too far away if you actually plan on playing the course the odd time.

Which bit do you find winding? It's perfectly normal for all clubs to require 3 scorecards to be submitted to enable your first handicap award. Or is it the possibly 2 instead that gets you?

    Castleknock is 2500 I think.
This is good value in distressed economic times I feel.

I'm not sure to be honest. Try phoning them.

I'm not a member there but was considering joining a while back.

    Are you for real?

That's hardly good value which was a prerequisite of the op.

i have to agree with sector 2500 is not good value for somebody on the bread line :) castleknock is a great course though! think its only 1750 anyways but thats stil way too much for me .... lookin for something under 600! gonna check out ballinastoe :) any other suggestions are welcome !!

You could give Highfield Colf and Country Club a try. It's €595 for a year. Lots of members are from the Dublin area. They are a great group of members and really friendly and helpful. It's located in Carbury, Co.Kildare. (www.highfield-golf.ie)

How about Stepaside, or was that 9 holes with separate tees also (can't recall) ?
