Is the legal justification for these companies operating this way based on the gender discrimination law loop-hole (woman statistically have less accidents) or are they entitled to cater solely towards women under another law?

they are merely brand names on a product from insurers that cover all people under other policies anyway.

Lady star for example is Eagle Star who insure everyone anyway.

I checked out http://www.its4women.ie/ (they offer car insurance for women) and they are owned by Chartis Insurance Ireland Limited and are operated by MCL Insurance Services Ltd. I called them and asked if they insure male drivers. While I can go on the policy of a female driver that has a policy with them they referred me to http://over25.ie (who are also called easyquote.ie) to get my own policy. This website is run by http://www.martininsurancebrokers.com/.

So they referred me to a company unassociated with them. It's possible that they are associated but no search I came up with shows any evidence for this.

This would suggest to me that companies are allowed operate this way (offering insurance to women drivers only). That's why I asked the original question. I wanted to find out if their right to discriminate is based upon the male/female gender difference statistics or on another law.

Are you 100% about your answer?
