Tin Whistle question?

I'm learning the tin whistle, but am just wondering how do you play higher/lower notes? I bought a D whistle. I also play the fiddle, so I'm used to all the notes on that, which is a lot more than the tin whistle. I want to play some songs on the whistle but don't know what to do when you have to play high E, G, A or lower…
