Is this normal?

Is it normal that when you go into a dentist for a filling, they take an x-ray, charge you 170 euro, followed by a sealing, costing another 70, then send you off with an appointment to come back, without even doing the filling?

Also, if you go in for one filling and they tell you that you need 6, at between 100-150 euro and you simply cant afford that, can you get the money back from the x-ray, and even the sealing?

    Thanks.

If you cannot afford treatment offered you need to let the dentist know BEFORE (s)he does the treatment. That way a cheaper option (if available may be offered eg metal filling instead of white) or at least the dentist will treat the most urgent tooth.
I doubt you will get the money back for the sealant or the xray (were the cost of these told to you before they were done?)
Regarding being charged for the filling I can't see why you would be charged for work not yet done.

nah, there was no charge for anything that wasnt done already.

FYI, this has been resolved by booking with another dentist.
€65 for the x-ray and €25 for the sealant, as opposed to:
€150 for an x-ray and €70 for the sealant!!

Oh and fillings are 50-125, instead of 100-150!!
