Can anyone help with a problem which is getting worse as time goes on and lots of checking but nothing found.

Flutter noise coming while driving which seems to be under the car where the gear box is and fans. Rules out internal car fan turning it off. Checked under car for anything loose moving in wind. Checked drive shaft and all seems ok. When clutch is in while driving noise is gone when clutch peddal is up its back. I am afraid its something with the gear box or clutch. Hopefully someone can put me in the right direction.

    The car is a 03 Mecedes C180 2liter 69k miles.

Thanks hope someone can help and its not going to cost a fortune.

What would i be expected to pay if its the clutch on this car?

    Or

If it was the gear box?

Sounds like the clutch release bearing.
