    Hey Guys,

I'm signing on the JSA and i'm working part time. I'm sending in my wee yellow slips with my x's and o's on it!

Question is, if my employer wants to make me work 4 days a week, which will always be including sundays, will this mean i have to sign off again?? It's only 4 and half hours on sunday, no overtime pay or anything like that??? As when they are taking my week into account so far they have been excluding my sundays that i've worked

I'm just wondering cos at the minute, i'm financially dependant on the money i'm getting off them ever week as i have quite high bills at the moment, car etc...

When receiving casual JSB/JSA Sunday is excluded so if you work 4 days and Sunday is one of the 4 days you will still get payment for 3 days.

Oh thank god! I was panicing a little, my boss isn't too impressed that most of us are on casual JSA, thanks for settling my worries!

If you are on JSA, the extra earnings you receive on Sunday are assessable as means and will be deducted from your weekly payment.

Sunday is not counted as a day of work, so your daily means from Sunday are not taken into account for Jobseeker’s Allowance. It will only be assessed if you earn more than the rate of JA you are recevining.

The below links explains sunday, this also applys to part-time and casual work

The INOU also have it on their website www.inou.ie in their working for work book

Granger13 is right, the means that you earn on a Sunday are not taken into account unless they push you above the limit for receiving Jobseekers Allowance completely. The previous post is inaccurate.
