    And that yearly, right?
    Madness.

I wonder how difficult it would be to introduce a 100% tax on lump sum payments in excess of €20,000 earned by public servants who do not contribute more than 50% of the amount?

The thing is though, with their own getting the same now or possibly in the future, will they change the rules/laws or like many a previous election promise, those stated changes they spoke of doing, will be quietly forgotten?

    I don't have a link yet but......

The ULA TD's are only taking the average industrial wage (€32,000 x 5TDs)
Sinn Fein are only taking the average industrial wage (€32,000 x 15TDs)
Ming Flanagan had accepted 50% of the salary (€42,000 x 1TD)

    Thats 682K a year for 21 TD's?

Now if all the others could fall in line.

    As if. :(

I'd be delighted to see such reform (as would we all) but till it starts to happen, I won't get my hopes up.
Lord knows the reputation of political promises previously

Just to clarify what I said above.....

Until the TD's pay is reviewed and changed all the TDs will be receiving their full pay. The ones who claim to not be taking all of it will be using any excess as they see fit. Putting it into their party, their constituencies, donating it to charity, buying lottery tickets, etc.

But 21 TDs out of the whole lot is a good start for pay reform.

Imo they should get statuary redundancy like anyone else that loses there job a max of 600e per week x2 =28,000 thats what the likes of dempsey should be getting not 330k.
Then again alot of them have resigned from their positions Which un like anyone else in the private sector you would not be able to claim the pension untill your retirement age.
