"The 42 outgoing TDs from Fianna Fáil and the Green Party who tried – and failed – to keep their seats in the Dáil will be comforted with payoffs worth over €7 million between the"m

It seems a quite a lot of money but it is just a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of billions in cash that was wasted throughout their time in office through carelessness through junkets, electronic voting, etc..

Maybe this is cash well spent just to see the last of them, we all know how expensive toxic waste can be to get disposed of. Is there any plan to recycle the Green Party? :D

€7,065,176 will be the cost of dumping our outgoing government TDs

Does this include the extra money the incoming will get also? Might need to revise those figures upwards OP

7 million to get rid of them seems like money well spent compared to how the said bunch of wasters spent it themselves

It's more than that...for those who did not stand for the election, they get a combined lump sum payment of €8,075,781 and €2,125,644 in pensions every year

    €7,054,373.02 + €8,075,781 = €15,130,154.02 lump sum payments
    €1,711,658.48 + €2,125,644 = €3,837,302.48 pension every year

Gimme ten percent of that and a few bob up front for a tree and some rope. I'll save this country a fortune.
