First time signing on the dole?

    Hi,

    This is my situation: I’ve just finished my PhD and want to sign on because the chance of me getting a job are zero at the moment. I’ve lived with my boyfriend for 1 year in his house. Up until 5 months ago I paid rent to him but because my scholarship was so low we agreed that I wouldn’t pay any rent until I got a job. Other than that I pay for everything myself (food, medical, etc).

    I have a means test tomorrow with the social welfare to see what I’m entitled to. My boyfriend has a good job as a senor accountant.

    Although my boyfriend and I are in a committed relationship, I would never ask him for a penny. Also, I don’t have any family to get help from either.

    My question is will they take into account my boy friends pay?
