I am currently connected to the internet via a wi-fi connection to my Eircom Router to my PS3.

Can anyone advise me a on a good system to network over the power mains in my house or if anyone has any experience of it or if it is worth the purchase for online gaming.

    Thanks

I don't have my ps3 connected by homeplugs but I do have my pc (as its in my bedroom).
I was getting a lot of wireless interference with my pc so I decided to plump for the 200mbs Devolo set .
Installation was a breeze. Just connect one plug to the router with cat 5 and the other to a plug by the pc. I was told not to put them on power strips as this can degrade the signal.

I can now stream hd content from my pc to the PS3 in the living room with no lag.

I definitely recommend getting them but be aware that the more homeplugs you start dotting around the house, the greater the degradation of signal between them.

I used a Solwise HOMEPLUG AV PUSH BUTTON MODEL - got them in PCPro in Cork - they were recommended in Personal Computer World magazine.

The device has 100Mbps performance, apparently. Worked fine out of the box but we haven't used them on the PS3 so far. I haven't streamed video over the connection or anything, but maybe that's not what you need?

If you just want to improve your connecttion to your Internet router for gaming that kind of speed would be more than adequate - if not, I would like your Broadband speeds:)

I got some 85Mb Solwise years ago, still work great and signal is perfect even though it travels a LONG way from the router.

Yeah, power strips just dont work, signal is terrible. If your stuck for plug space (the homeplugs can be a bit bulky to each side so can block other plugs), use one of the square double adaptors, works quite well.

Devolo also do a range of pass through home plugs so you don't lose that all important plug behind the tv.
