    oil leaking from engine somewhere (not a eal underneath)

    and also car wont hold idle by itself.. car starts but goes off again when the is unturned. pedal needs to be pressed to keep it on.

    any ideas before i head to the garage people ?

    That could be an number of things, airflow sensor, throttle potentiometer, very dirty air filter etc.

    ok... any idea about the oil leak coming from the engine block or abouts there ?

    Probably the rocker cover or around the sump, crankshaft oil seal etc. Ya would really want to a mechanic to have a look as I can only guess sitting here.

    will be dropping it up to the mechanic in the next hour... just wanted to know if these were big serious issues as in expensive or would the be easily fixed ?

    Head gaskett on the way out maybe , did you check the water for any oily residue ?

    head gasket just got replaced 2 weeks ago...

    right lads... just want to run a quick bump on this.

    oil leak was fixed (turned out to be silly ... it was the oil cap needed a seal replaced in it )

    the idle problem has just got worse and i note white smoke blowing out of the exhaust !

    again the car will start.... low idle for about 1 minute at about 400rpm and will die.

    my mechanic suggested that we get a diagnostics on it as he doesn't want to tear the car apart looking for the problem !

    any suggestions lads ?

    how much for a diagnostics ?

    If your mechanic replaced the head gaskets then he SHOULD look at it again. Clearly there is something wrong with the car if it won't idle and its puffing white smoke.
