Some of my mates played in this last year and got 10 rounds for €100 or something absolutely mad like that - unbelievably I think that one of the courses was even Doonbeg

Haven't checked out your link but if it's anything close to last year and if you're in the vicinity, you should jump at the chance as I think places are limited.

How easy is it to book tee-times for this?
Do any of the clubs restrict tee-times for this comp to certain hours or days for example?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 848 ✭✭✭Kace

Don't think my guys had an issue. The competition was recognised by all of the clubs that they played and they were able to play the majority of their rounds on Saturdays. There will be some restrictions as most clubs will have members comps on Saturday and Sunday mornings but outside these times should be fully flexible.

This looks like a great deal, I am just wondering how easy it would be to play from dublin or would you have to be down that way.

Living in Limerick. Seems like great value... Is there limited places? Anybody played in it before? Some of the courses on there are €100 for one round so to get ten rounds for the €100 a head is brilliant. Dromoland is a fantastic course

I organise the Clare Ultimate Golf Challenge.
Its true you can play all ten County Clare golf courses for only €400 per four ball- basically that works out at €10 a round per person. No green fees apply.
Each team can play the courses between 1st of April and the 30th of September.
I recommend all interested golfers enter sooner rather than later as places are filling fast. Visit www.clare.ie/golf to find online entry and terms of play.
Many teams from outside Clare are entering and booking tee times over 2/3 days with the plan to stay a few nights in one of the many great accommodation providers available in County Clare- visit www.clare.ie for full list of places to stay.
    Hope this helps.

should boards.ie not just register 2 teams and we draft in people as available..
might be illegal but sure if they disqualify us we'll just trash the place
    cheap golf afterall though

    12 - 25

i'd ideally like to assemble a pool of players from boards.ie and then draft in depending on form, local knowledge, and some other key variables yet to be finalised.

as liable to cheating as any golf competition in fairness!

In the final they break up the four man team into two fourballs and send them out in different groups this year. Previously, they went out as a 4 man team.

Kevin Markham on his blog said that to qualify for the final, you must play all ten courses. I don't see that anywhere in the rules??? Can anyone else please advise?

Hi Bailey99 - the third last point in the T&Cs says: "Top 8 teams with best aggregate score (4 cards) will qualify for gala final"

I read that as meaning cards for the four team members, whereas it might well mean the best four cards from however many courses a team plays (whether it's four courses or ten). I've put a call in to Clare Tourism, but the person I need to speak to is out today (probably playing golf).

Bailey, got a call today from Clare Tourism - in order to qualify for the grand final each team has to submit a minimum of five cards (i.e. five rounds of golf from the courses on offer).

Thanks for picking up on that.

We entered last year but didn't play as much as we hoped/planned. Hoping to hit myabe 7 of the courses this year. Gonna do an overnight and try for a maybe Lahinch/Spanish Point the first day, then Doonbeg the second night.

They are still open for entry as they havent reached 100 teams yet to my knowledge.
